How Is Comcast's Stock Performance Compared to Other Telecom Services Stocks?

Valued at a market cap of $129.1 billion, Philadelphia, Pennsylvania-based Comcast Corporation (CMCSA) is a leading global media and technology company. It operates through five main segments: Residential Connectivity & Platforms, Business Services Connectivity, Media, Studios, and Theme Parks.
Companies valued at $10 billion or more are generally classified as “large-cap” stocks, and Comcast fits this criterion perfectly. Through its Xfinity, Comcast Business, NBCUniversal, Sky, and Peacock brands, Comcast delivers broadband, entertainment, and immersive experiences to millions of customers worldwide.
Shares of Comcast have dipped 24.9% from its 52-week high of $45.31. CMCSA stock has decreased 5.2% over the past three months, a more pronounced decline than iShares U.S. Telecommunications ETF’s (IYZ) 1.2% drop over the same time frame.

In the longer term, CMCSA stock is down 9.4% on a YTD basis, underperforming IYZ’s 4.6% gain. Moreover, shares of Comcast have declined 15% over the past 52 weeks, compared to IYZ’s 29.3% return over the same time frame.
Since December last year, the stock has been trading mostly below its 50-day and 200-day moving averages.

Shares of Comcast rose 2.1% following its Q1 2025 results on Apr. 24. The company reported adjusted EPS of $1.09, beating the consensus estimate, and free cash flow surged to $5.42 billion. Despite a slight decline in revenue to $29.9 billion, Comcast outperformed estimates, with strong performance from Peacock, which had 41 million paid subscribers and achieved 16% revenue growth, further supporting investor confidence.
Nevertheless, CMCSA has underperformed its rival, T-Mobile US, Inc. (TMUS), which has risen 9.8% on a YTD basis and gained 38.5% over the past 52 weeks.
Despite the stock’s weak performance relative to its industry peers, analysts remain moderately optimistic about its prospects. The stock has a consensus rating of “Moderate Buy” from 30 analysts' coverage, and as of writing, CMCSA is trading below the mean price target of $40.83.
