More rain expected for Friday and sunny days until Monday. Prices are steady with movement still on the slow side but interest seems to be picking up. The rain has caused some ssues with black rot and decay and growers are busy cleaning them up before offering them for sale. Some growers will be putting pecans into cold storage anticipating that an increase in price will be coming in later. Most of the offerings are Blends and prices are still trending downward. Prices for Blends with Stuarts with 44-50 percent meat yields sold for around $3.00-3.20 per point, fair to poor quality lower. Lots with damage, excess moisture and rot have lower price offerings. Prices paid to growers (late afternoon Friday, January 5, 2024 thru late afternoon Tuesday, January 9, 2024) at buyers delivery point or F.O.B. the orchard including direct sales to end users, cents per pound in-shell of generally good quality in lots of 20,000 pounds or less unless otherwise stated.
